God fulfills His promises.

Gospel Connection

After over 400 years of silence, God announced the birth of a prophet and the birth of The King, who would be The Savior. The joy of these births points to the agony of the cross where Jesus would bear the punishment of God for the sins of every person who places their faith in Jesus. Jesus descended from Heaven to Earth to die in place of sinners, bear God’s punishment for sin, and defeat our enemies of sin, death, and Satan through his resurrection, just as God promised long ago.

Whole Bible Connection

From Genesis 3:15 on, the Bible's storyline builds up to the moment of Jesus’ birth. As Luke begins his detailed account of Jesus' life, he records the excitement of God fulfilling the promises of the Old Testament to send the Savior who would make atonement for sin.
